Jenna Davis
MS2 MD/MPH Candidate, University of Miami Miller School of Medicine
Jenna is interested in investigating new technology in low resource settings to help improve neurosurgical care. Knowing that many of the tools available in high resource countries simply aren’t feasible in low to middle income countries, Jenna feels that by learning to use different tools and approaches the barriers that these countries face can be overcome.
Jenna joined DGNN in 2019 to investigate the use of near-infrared light spectroscopy in identifying hematomas in traumatic brain injury cases in Mbarara, Uganda. She spent six weeks at Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital to get local context and DGNN’s partners’ input for the study proposal, as well as improve the MRRH database quality. She feels DGNN is truly invested in long term relationships with its Ugandan partners to reach practical and out-of-the-box solutions in capacity building, training, and improving care.
